Letter V Swap

Creative Crafty Friends continues to give me ways to create art other than just tangling. I enjoy tangling, but really I prefer making color and these swaps gives me that opportunity. For this particular swap we worked on the letter V.

Letter V is not so easy to come up with words for. Did I say that backwards? You get what I mean, right? Hard. Hahaha! I went to Hannah Lynn’s Etsy shop and started searching her images for anything that started with the letter V. This is what I found. I called that yellow thing a vase. Ta-da! I reduced the size of the line art in Photoshop – it is meant to be a full page coloring picture – and printed it small enough to fit onto the 2.5″ x 3.5″ ATC card. Colored it using Copic markers. You can see my color chart as well. I am saving these into a book that I will show you soon in a review.

I ran the vase girl through my sticker machine, then trimmed her out. At this point she had a sticker paper backing that would be removed when I was ready to adhere her to the card. But first some texture making.

I have had a few questions about the inks I use for splatters. These have been my go-to brands lately. Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bombay india inks come in a wide variety of colors. Mark gave me two sets of colors a few years ago at Christmastime and I am still using them. Daler Rowney liquid acrylics is the other brand of ink I use. They come in soooooo many colors! For this little vase girl I thought teal and this beautiful blue would work well together for the splatters I added with a fan brush.

Next I wanted to ink the edges before adding my girl. This Tahiti color in the Dyestress line was perfect!

Around the edges and scuffed a little over the edges. Didn’t want to cover up all those beautiful splatters. And I still wanted plenty of the white showing.

After removing the paper backing, I just sat her right in place and smooshed her down. She had some room left at the top that I needed to address. Too much open space.

Looking at this now, reminds me of all we have going on in our world at the moment. We really are all in this together. And we can make it better or we can make it worse. I choose to make it better, I choose to shine.

And I added a little bling for the shine πŸ™‚ haha!

The swaps call for two ATCs, both starting with the letter V. So I included this ATC of my tangle pattern Viola. That starts with V! Hahaha! And done!
