Inktober Days 6 – 9

Inktober is rolling right along and I am managing to keep up. So far. Hahaha! You know how I work. I usually have 5 or 6 or 7 projects in the works – all at once. Right now is no different. And while I’m thinking about being stretched thin – Mark has a doctor’s appointment out of town tomorrow. Checking on that hip and asking about the additional bill we got in the mail for mega bucks. There probably won’t be a post the following day. That would be a good time to be a subscriber because each new post automatically shows up in your email and you don’t have to wonder if I made one or not. But. Back to Inktober.

Each day in October, I am using a Tile from Hahnemühle along with technical pens from Zebra Pen to draw my piece of art for the day. And usually there will be color involved cause that is who I am. Hahahaha! The color in this tile came from that water squirt gun prompt I ran in Tangle All Around a couple months ago. You can read about it here. I seriously need to make more of these tiles. The tangle I chose for that day was Kuba. This was a really hard one for me. My brain isn’t wired this way – that is why I mostly work in circles and curves and not straights. Or anything that needs precision. But it always good to stretch out of my comfort zone and that’s what I did. And now I am good. Moving on. Hahahahaha!

I didn’t anticipate day 7 being so much fun but it was! When I was preparing for my facebook group to participate in Inktober, I began with Jake Parker’s list of prompts. Then I searched for tangle patterns that might work well with those prompts. For day 7 Jake selected the prompt . . . enchanted. The tangle pattern I selected is King’s Crown. I had prepared this tile ahead of time with Tombow markers and I felt it was perfect. I drew all this and then I remembered enchanted. Hahaha! Well, shoot! I needed to make this enchanted some how. So . . .

. . . I thought they looked like birds flying over the ocean. So here you have Snow White’s enchanted birds came out to play with King’s Crown. Hahahahaha! My favorite so far!

Day 8’s prompt from Jake was frail. I chose this floral pattern called Praa because it looked fragile to me. And I had been wanting to try it for so long! I added some little zingers and an airways sun. The color background is Tombow brush pens that I used as a watercolor with an acrylic block.

And that brings us to day 9. Jake’s prompt was swing. I immediately thought of the pattern My Swing that I love to play with! So many fun ways to embellish this one, but I went with basic this time so you could enjoy those beautiful colors! Lindy’s Magicals is what I used and the real tile is so shimmery! Those Magicals are just . . . magical! And I love playing with them!

I am currently working on day 10 – getting it ready for tomorrow. And it is a bit of a bear. If you interpreted that to mean grid – then you would be correct! And two days later involves a dragon. Yep! It’s going to be magical. Oh wait! Where are my Lindy’s? I’m going to need another magical tile! Tiles and other Hahnemühle products with purchase links

  1. Love these tangles! Question for you Alice….is your circle for the Airways sun drawn freehand??? Or do you use a circle template?

  2. Great to see your progress – I really like your Kuba tile – that tangle is a new one on me. And your My Swing is so vibrant – I can hear it singing as it sashays down the sparkled magical catwalk!

  3. Hope you had a safe and productive trip with Mark..and you answered a question I was about to ask…about many projects at one time LOL Great work my sister as always 🙂

    • hahahaha! at least that many! I know you do it, too, getting ready for your craft bazaars.

  4. I love what you achieved with Kuba. That’s a fascinating one to look at & works so well with the bold lines against the soft background. Hope all is well with the hip & that large bill gets straightened out.

    • $17,000 more – we hope it gets straightened out, too. it was quite the shocker to receive
