California artist Shay Livenspargar has a passion for color. A passion for rich, beautiful, bright, bold, fabulous color. And even better than that – Shay wants to share her passion with others. You might be wondering what that means for you. Well, let me show you what it means for me. <3
It all started with the fun owls Shay creates. I’ve been watching her owls for several months now and along the way fell in love with the tumblers and floral pieces she also makes. I actually have one of her tumblers – I have never put anything liquid in it, though. I love it and don’t want to get it dirty so it sits in my art carousel and guards over my paintbrushes and other quick-to-grab art supplies.
But let’s get back to owls. Hahaha! Specifically owls. Last week I sent Shay a message through Facebook asking if she would create an owl just for me. I gave her a few parameters like size and color preferences and she just went from there. I was fortunate enough to go online the next night and Shay had a live feed going on – the first I have ever watched on Facebook – and she just happened to be working on my owl. Yay!!!! I was able to see how she actually paints this little guy and had input into the make up of the eyes and eye lashes. She actually had three I could pick from – but this one just screamed my name! It did! Hahaha! And I got happy mail today from California. So exciting!!!
Shay is becoming known for her bags. I have a few friends that have them already. I did not expect this package to have anything in it except my owl so you can only imagine how excited I was to see all the goodies that were extra! I am trying to figure out where I can hang this on the wall in my studio. Hahaha! I love it that much!
I mentioned her florals earlier. Shay creates these beautiful roses – I think they are roses because they look like roses to me – and I am beyond thrilled that she sent me this canvas. So blessed! I just went frame shopping this morning, now I need to go again!
And she included a beautiful thank you card. Shay knows a lot of creative ways to use alcohol inks and you better believe I am studying these pieces closely trying to figure out some of her techniques! For this card, Shay stitched a piece of her alcohol ink art onto the front of a card. It is pretty awesome!
Shay, I love it all! Thank you so much! You took my one request and multiplied it into a wonderful surprise on this snowy day and I can’t say thank you enough!
Interested in checking out more of Shay’s artistry? She has a couple sites you can look at, I’m going to add them here as links. Stop by and introduce yourself. I know Shay would love to meet you, or catch up with you if you are already friends. <3 <3 <3
