Have you ever wished you could make a color background like this but were just too anxious to try? Didn’t have the supplies? Didn’t know where to begin? Good news – I have already done the work for you! Let me show you what I mean.
This book published a little over a year ago. Here is what the Amazon description says about Tangle Starts:
Love to create zentangle / tangle art on colorful backgrounds? Are you a collage artist who loves to cut, tear, rip and glue to make fun collage elements? Love to build beautiful, colorful art journal pages? How about storing all your art in one location? Then this is the book for you! I have already created all the colorful backgrounds so all you have to do is grab your art tools and jump right in! Creating art has never been so easy or so much fun! Tangle Starts is just that – a start for your creative instincts to take center stage. Have fun!
Here is the back in case you want to see it. Basically it is a book of my color backgrounds that you can use in a variety of ways. The first photo in this post is one of the pages in Tangle Starts. Let me show you a couple more pages, before I show you what I did with that first page.
There are pages you can tangle on or doodle creating your own beautiful works of art!
There are ones you can use to build art journal pages or to tear up and use as collage elements. Or you could collage work straight onto these pages.
But let’s go back to this page. It is one of the many pages in Tangle Starts. I really like how the color in this one came out blotchy, like little cells. And I love how it flows from top to bottom.
I used my Zensations Technical Pens from Zebra Pen and filled in the tangles I wanted – to make up my little underwater world. Are these colors perfect for underwater? Who knows what it looks like waaaaayyyyy down deep anyway! It certainly might be these colors and I wouldn’t know cause I’ve never gone down deep to find out. But! In my little underwater world – these colors are perfect! Hahahahaha! Let’s see. For tangles I used coral, nebula, airways, printemps, anemone and Indy Rella. And that’s it. But it needed a little more.
So I brought in my EcoLapis de Color SuperSoft pencils from Faber-Castell that Marina Jorge sent to me. I used them to add some dimension and depth and I love how they work! And I was able to do this right in my Tangle Starts book. No problem at all! If you are interested in picking up a copy of Tangle Starts – it was the first book in the Artangleology Series! – it is available on Amazon, along with all the other books in the series. I will give you a link at the end of the post. Don’t be afraid of working with color, I have made it as simple as I can for you. If you don’t have the supplies or the time to make color backgrounds, it’s ok, I’ve got you covered with Tangle Starts. I appreciate you so much! Thank you for reading through!
