ATC Coins?

I’ve mentioned the Facebook group ATC Trades and Jams before. The trades and swaps they do are really fun and I’m learning a lot by watching and reading.

I told you earlier about the letter D swap. The ATCs above were for the letter O swap. I made one for the person I traded with and one I could keep. I kept the seahorse ATC but it was a hard decision. Hahaha! The backgrounds were from a gelli plate pull I made. I liked the bubbles and thought it was perfect for an ocean piece. The littler mermaid girls were from packaging for some collage papers I purchased. And those little flowers were left over from my scrapbooking days. I love them! My son found them at Michael’s for me.

I mentioned ATC coins in the title. They were new to me but they are becoming all the rage. They are typically 2.5″ wide. The lady I was trading with collects coins, so why not? I decided to make my second trade a coin. I sent this one to her. The little Outer space critters were stamps that I colored with markers. The stars came from the same section in Michael’s as the flowers in the ocean ATCs. I watercolored the background, layered some text I ripped from a book page, then adhered all the extra pieces. Fun city!!!

And this is the one I kept for myself. Happy face!!! I made this the same way as the first. Watercolored background, stamps colored – cut out and glued in place, add the stars and text. Don’t they look like they are up to some mischief? I’d love to hear what you think about the coins. I will definitely be making more.

ATCs are fun! Whether they are the regular 2.5″ x 3.5″ or the 2.5″ coins – they are super fun to make and trade! Check out ATC Trades and Jams. You will be glad you did! And while you are on Facebook, check out my group Tangle All Around. We do a lot of tangling and learning and sharing.

  1. At first I thought you were talking about the ATC coin that’s kind of like a bitcoin (as far as my limited understanding can figure out). Your kind of ATC coin is much more interesting, lol!

    • hahaha! cool! I’m not sure about the ones you are talking about. and this was my first experience with these and they were so much fun!

  2. Love these! The bright colors and whimsical characters are so you! I have yet to do an ATC card or coin, but at your recommendation I joined ATC Trades and Jams.

    • ah, very good! you will see lots of awesome art in that group! I think with your art journaling background you will find many things to enjoy in ATC Trades and Jams 🙂

  3. These are outta this world. I love aliens! I have some small circles I got in the scrapbooking dept. I’ll have to try this. Not up to swapping at this time though.

  4. I had no idea these little coins existed & that they’re ATCs too. The crafting world is full of surprises. Looks like you had a lot of fun putting these together. I remember your mermaid ATCs & the way you’d varied them ever so slightly & yet kept them the same design. Great fun doing that.

    • when I joined the swap I thought the mermaids were going to go to two different people, so I tried to keep them similar. then I found out I actually got to keep one 🙂
